1957 – The Carlotta – The Historic Magnolia House

The Carlotta room, at our North Carolina romantic getaway, is designed in a bold shade of pink and honors the “Queens of Soul” that stayed with us when in town. Icons like Tina Turner, Lena Horne, and Gladys Knight this room design reflects their powerfully feminine spirit.

The Carlotta Club, in Greensboro, was part of the Chitlin’ Circuit. Greensboro was an important stop along the way for many musicians playing at The Ritz and the Carlotta Club. Notable 20th-century women performers that came into town were Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday, Lena Horne, and they played at the Carlotta Club. Some of them stayed at the Historic Magnolia House inn while they were in town.

To keep the authenticity and for guests to have the full experience of the original Green Book Hotel this room has a shared bathroom.
